A one-week staff training programme on Tenerife that prepares counselors, instructors and operations staff for the season – held immediately before the Atlantic Surf Camp it supports.
The Surf Camp Staff Academy is how our teams get ready. Over one intensive week, new and returning staff complete onboarding, safeguarding and health-and-safety training, emergency and surf-safety procedures, and the required courses and agreements for the role. It runs on site in Tenerife in the days before an Atlantic Surf Camp session, so the whole team arrives aligned, confident and ready for campers.
The Academy is a working example of staff readiness: invitations and onboarding, role assignment, required courses and quizzes, signed agreements and completion tracking, all managed in one place. Every team member finishes the week knowing exactly what is expected of them – and leadership can see, at a glance, that the team is ready.

A typical day
- 08:30 – Briefing and the day's objectives
- 09:00 – Training module (safeguarding, H&S or surf safety)

Accommodation and meals
Staff stay in shared on-site accommodation in Tenerife for the week, in the same location used for the Atlantic Surf Camp season that follows.
Full board is provided throughout the training week, with dietary needs collected during staff onboarding.
Health and safety
The Academy itself delivers the safeguarding, first-aid, emergency and surf-safety training that every staff member must complete before working with campers. Completion is required and tracked before the camp begins.
